Why self-powered technology?
Our combo optical drives are unique because of an integrated internal battery which allows it to operate via USB without the need for an A/C adapter or wall power plug. This device can operate without drawing >500mA (or standard USB spec.) from your system at any time.
Why does USB power spec matter?
It is important for a Blu-ray combo device to stay within USB spec to ensure stability and optimal performance in mission critical applications where no A/C adapter is present. By reducing the chances of problems caused by power fluctuation, this device is able to read Blu-ray and record DVD with less error.
Is the device always able to operate via (1) USB connection?
Typically, the Blu-ray combo drive is able to operate via single USB connections in most situations however occasionally during heavy use (extended amount of DVD burn).

Included DVD Software: TotalMedia SE1 (Backup & Record)
 DIGISTOR™ external DVD burners now come with Arcsoft TotalMedia Backup & Record SE1 (Windows) for creation of file backup and customization of data storage on DVD or CD discs; and for automated or manual back up and restore using DVD-RAM, DVD-RW, or CDR, CD-RW blank discs.

Single Cable Configuration
(for standard usage)
• The Blu-ray External drive will last 3-4 hours on a single USB connection, and will auto charge while idle. |

• For extended use, choose the dual USB connection which will draw additional power from the computer, but will not deplete the internal battery |
